Jr. Eagles Hockey Scores Big With Can Drive

On Saturday November 22, 2008 the Jr. Eagle Hockey Team came up with another big win in defeating the battle against local hunger.  The Jr. Eagles are a Plymouth based Junior High League hockey team that plays its games on Friday nights at the Bog and practices at the Armstrong rink in Plymouth.  The team is comprised of Plymouth players in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades from PCIS and PSMS and open to anyone who lives in Plymouth.  The team scored big last Saturday by collecting non-perishable food in two local neighborhoods, Clarke Estates and the neighborhood in and around Strawberry Hill Road and Lafayette Road.  Thank you to all the generous families that provided food to help stock our local food bank!  The load of food, the size of two filled pickup trucks, will be delivered to the Greater Plymouth Food Warehouse on Apollo Road in Plymouth within the week.  The event was planned by the Jr. Eagles with the assistance of hockey Mom Lynda Whyte and Coach Dick Duddy.  Although the temperature was below freezing it did not stop the players from their prime objective, to help stop hunger.    Many thanks to the player’s parents and family members who assisted with the food drive, Tim Gusciora, Jim Lunetta, Ron Ferrell, Lauren Peckham, Matt Peckham, Kathy Duddy, Lynda Whyte, Jessie Whyte, Assistant Coach Kevin Hood and Coach Duddy.  If you are a community service related organization and would like the opportunity to have the Jr. Eagles assist you with your campaign please visit our web site at www.plymouthjreagles.com and send us an email.  We will take all ideas under consideration.
